Parties

Ok so what are your guys tips on throwing parties. The parties I'm talking about are the ones at houses where there's music and drinking etc.

The plan is to make money off of this to pay for an apartment. I mean sure getting a real job is nice and all but I think I need to try this at least once.

I've heard that charging about $1 for shots and 4-6 dollars for a cup with free refills for the night.


This'll be in Boston while I'm taking summer classes.

I'm thinking of maybe getting those flyers that I see being slipped under people's doors for clubs and bars. That'll take care of the advertisement, any other ideas are welcome.

Also advice on pricing etc. music, and anything else would be helpful too.

are you in college? people do it all the time.

I have heard about charging for shots at house parties a little (it's not as common in my experience), and i think others would not really be enticed to buy in when there is a refillable beer cup or something. I'd just go with beer and kegs, mixed drinks if you want. I have never done it before so i could not give you more experienced advice. I am not sure how well flyers will work, but i guess we will see. Word-of-mouth works efficiently for parties, and if you charge that much for cups you know you are going to get freshmen paying since they are so desperate for alcohol. I woulid hold it one of the first weeks the freshmen come back, they are willing to pay crazy amounts for just a little bit of alcohol. Exploit them, and not in a sexual way mind you.

Yeah i'm only gonna be there over the summer though. At a party I saw some people buying shots even though it had the same prices listed above.

I'll be doing this over summer session so there probably won't be newcommer freshman, anyway it'll at least be an experiment to see if it works or not.
