preface to "Avion"

uHm... i decided to finally get started on one of the many storyline ideas i had... its a little preface to the short novel im writting... hope you like it... its kinda bloody... but its meant to capture your intrest... so yah... tell me what ya'll think... and i present to you the preface to "Avion"

Labored breaths mixed anxiety and fear. With every hot exhale a crisp white plume of air floats away into the dimming dusk. Carried away with the subtle breeze trickling through the thick brush. Fahreed sat against the tree. He could feel the eyes upon him. It was the itching uncomfortable knowledge of being watched. He could feel the hairs on his neck rise as he feebly hid in the surrounding bushes. Perhaps the avion wouldn¡¯t sense his presence. A shiver ran down his spine as flashes of the night before broke through his wall of fear.
He came down upon them like a daemon. 3 men, they fell like sheep prepared for sacrifice to some twisted god. His blade sang through the air cleaving Devin¡¯s collarbone in two. He died before he could cry out. All he could remember was the gurgling, the gurgling of blood flooding his accomplice¡¯s lungs. Jared was the next to fall. The avion was upon him as he pulled his sword from Devin¡¯s dying body. A quick thrust through his neck, Jared fell with his sword still in its scabbard. Seth lunged at the avion. His mace brought up crashing down upon the dark figure. The avion blocked the blow with his sword. There were faint carvings were etched into the sword. The runes glowed for a second and the sword took the blow, but didn¡¯t give any hint of damage. The avion dropped down in a spin. Coming up behind Seth chopping out his legs from underneath him. Seth dropped to the floor upon his knees. The avion took his head off. The avion turned. Fahreed felt his blood run cold as the Justice walked toward him. His eyes glowed green, the mark of a true avion. His black tunic taught tightly against the leather-hunting vest worn beneath the uniform. His boots muddy from the hunt through the woods. His sword was perfect. With out a nick or scratch other then the delicate runes carved into its surface. His dark hair cut short in the manner of those in the order. Fahreed felt his eyes penetrate his soul. Fear took over, Fahreed ran with all his might never looking back.
Fahreed panted as a cold sweat broke over his body, his tunic torn and stained. He tried his best to calm himself. The avion would trudge by and smell his fear. Fahreed closed his eyes. Its been said that no man has escaped an avion on a mission. Their reputation as the most efficient instruments of justice in the Broken Kingdom wasn¡¯t without reason. Fahreed clutched his rapier slowly drawing it. He watched the road carefully for the avion. Paranoia took him over as he saw shadows pass out of vision from the corner of his eye. Death it seemed was stalking him.
¡°Shhhh. Quiet.¡± Fahreed felt the cold steel of a sword gently rest against the nape of his neck. ¡°Do as I say, and I will be merciful.¡±
Fahreed shivered as the man¡¯s voice struck him. At that very moment he feared the worst. His soul was to be ripped from his body. The terrible magic that was vested in the avion was to be used. Fahreed closed his eyes. He dropped his rapier upon the soft dirt. Fahreed¡¯s breathed slow, to a deep consuming breath. His only option dawned upon him. It was all he could do. The avion stepped to turn him around. At that moment Fahreed drew his dagger from his sleeve. The blade poised to plunge into the avion¡¯s lungs. Fahreed spun around with his dagger lifted up ready to strike. The avion¡¯ sword already drawn slashed up into Fahreed¡¯s arm. His arm fell to the ground clutching the dagger. Fahreed screamed in agony as he grabbed at the stump where his arm used to be. Feebly trying to stem the flow of crimson blood flooding out of his artery. He fell against the tree. The avion grabbed him firmly and pinned him against the rough bark. He stared deeply into Fahreed¡¯s eyes. Deep controlled breaths came from him. His eyes glowed brightly. Fahreed was entranced by the stare and could not tear away from it. He could feel the life slowly seep from his body as his vision slowly grew dark. Fahreed saw his most cherished moments of his life pass before his eyes. His happiness, his sorrows flowed out of him. The avion took part in his last vision. He felt his pain, his joy as he shared in his life for the brief few moments left in Fahreed¡¯s life. Fahreed closed his eyes, and he sighed as his last breath came out of his body.
