hMm... this is the way i see it... God is righteous, hence he punishes, but unwarrented trails and such, in my humble opinion, is because he does want to enjoy the good in life... without the bad, you have nothing to compare other experiences in your life...

also another illustration which i find very satisfying, is like those fish that only happen to live on the east coast, so when they would ship them live to the west coast, the taste of the fish would not be as fresh and good as at the east coast, so someone brilliant decided to put its natural predator in the tank with the fish... well *wallah!* there you get the fresh fish on the west coast... well this is like our christian lives, God throws in satan into the equations of our life, to make us fresher in heaven... like that old saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"

okay, to stop us suffering, he would have to make us happy right? what makes us happy can make someone else sad. THE WORLD CAN NEVER BE SATISFIED.

if god made everything perfect and everyone happy - we would all basically be robots. with no thoughts, no freedom no nothing. GOD would control our every movement, thought and action.

if we didnt suffer.. we wouldnt die.. if we didnt die.. we would be immortal and lived forever.. sounds like a good notion for us.. but life would not be lived with the intention of needing God. we are not perfect.. and that is for good reason.

but then tigers would die if they couldn't eat any animals, as that would be considered "not being mean" to other animals, and getting along. The moment a tiger eats another animal, the reputation will increase exponentially and all tigers will be feared, if eve and adam didn't mess it up,...how could animals get along while surviving? Carnivores existed, and adam and eve seem to be almost an excuse for them to pursue waht is their way of life. I don't think adam and eve played a part in it, they are only the allyby. Then again, i think religion is that, but thats a different story..rather thread.

if you don't suffer, you can't make yourself a better person. you won't learn anything. you can't blame everything on God. anyway, maybe if you are suffering from something, its your bad karma from your past life or something. You get what you give!

The answer is Job Ch 40-42.
When God takes all that is precious to Job away from him for no apparent reason in Job's POV, Job is so angered by his horrible turn of luck that he curses the day he was born and begins to curse God.

God lets us suffer, for reasons we probably do not, and never will understand. But more importantly he does because he can. We cannot comprehend his very intentions nor limits for he is God. Like it says in Exodus 3:14 ; "I am who I am."(Reply to Moses' inquery to God about what he could say if the Israelites question the identity of God.)
It says in the chapters listed above, that God replies to Job's complaint like this: "Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? ...."

Basically he is saying, I did what i did, because i Could, because I am God.

and when Job realized this and repented, "...the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before." (Job 42:10)
