25% of hp lost at wheels??

I heard that at the wheels, your car has roughtly 25% less horsepower than at the crank. is this true? is it really THAT much power lost?

20% is still a lot

what would make that less?

all I can think of is lighter driveshaft.

it might actually be more than 25%

but think about how much your motor loses just because of the weight of your pistons/rods etc?

There is no one general percentage, every car loses different amounts. Some more than others.

when it says 200hp isn't that taken into account because that's 200hp at the crankshaft rite?

friction

most of the power lost is lost through friction. that and inertia.
