Help me out here. My friend thinks he knows what love is and claims to love a different person, pretty much every week. Let me ask you something, is that love? He goes out with this girl then checks out this other girl thinks shes hot then dumps his girlfriend and tries to go out with the girl that he has set his eyes on. Let me ask you is that love? I try and talk sense into him, how I believe that what he is feeling, what he is doing is not love. I finally thought he understood what i was asking when one of his girlfriends dumped him and he asked me for help that i should talk to her because he said he loved her. I believed him and talked to her and told her what he told me and told her to give him another chance. They got back together and then in 2 DAYS he dumped her and tried going out with this other girl. IS THIS LOVE? I'm seriously tired of seeing these girls, my friends getting hurt because of him. I try and showing him part of my life how girls like me but i don't just go out wit them because they like me and how i really care for someone and willing to pass on everyone else just to be with her. So how do i explain better to him what he is doing is very hurtful to my friends these girls. Thanks a lot to whoever responds.

i did not even read anything besides the first sentence, but love is not the collective consensus we make of it. It is different to different people. Poststructuralism. you cannot tell him he definitively does not know what love is, the same way he cannot tell you it with any credibility because language cannot be agreed upon, and thereby can never be definate.

Your friend's "love" is your "like." Ask him what he thinks "liking" a girl means then. He probably has a difference, just he does not think of love as highly as most people.
