it's what happens when you stop watching nickelodeon and the kid stations i'd think. It's why we don't see any commercials for cereals so often, because they come in more frequency on kid stations. Nothing probably happened to them, they are probably still there (or they might not be) and you just watch stations which don't frequent their advertisments as much as the old stations you used to watch. (e.g. mtv doesn't show little caesers commercials so much unless they sponsor some show)
but, now that i think about it. it seems i have seen little caesars commericials without the little caesar guy, hmm. Anyway i didn't delete what i wrote because i don't think people always realize that commercials don't just disappear, you start watching different shows that don't have those commercials.
