Remember the classic games?

Remember the classic games like Final Fantasy 3, Chrono Trigger, Metroid, Zelda. what happened, seems like games today are all about graphics not about gameplay.

i have the games on emulator too....but games nowadays are more challenging, technical, and realistic. i mean...super mario was hard...but its nothing compared to something like tomb raider or metal gear solid. the only thing challenging about the super mario series was the non existant save function which made it impossible to ever finish the game................btw...the endings to all the marios are super corny...waste of my time

i think thats cuz back then they made games for you just to play and have fun, not for the endings.

yeah, best emulators are:

genesis - gens (even has sega cd support)
snes - zsnes
playstation - epsxe (accelerates the games graphics, they look a lot beter)
gameboy advance - visualboy advance
capcom/neo geo arcade - kawaks

best thing about emulation is you can play fan-translated japanase games that were never released here. i'm hooked on bahamut lagoon and tales of phantasia, those are tight games that never made it here.

another good site = http://www.zophar.net/
you can get all emulators and translation hacks and patches here.

i don't think games really are focused a lot more on graphics now than gameplay, many games released nowadays have groundbreaking and innovative gameplay that hasn't ever been seen in any other games.
Those games that you listed also had some of the best graphics of their times. Chrono Trigger was the best game ever made for SNES in my opinion, it had excellent graphics, a compelling storyline, cool music, gameplay that was innovative for an RPG, yet nothing that was too different from other RPG's. It was a solid game, the best I ever played on that system.
There are tons of games today in which the develepors focused on gameplay and not just graphics. Take metal gear solid 2 for instance, when it was being developed hideo kojima + co. didn't know how the graphics would compare to other PS2 games, but that didn't really bother them and the continued to focus on making and in-depth, excellent game, and it turned out that MGS2 had some of the best graphics on the ps2, well maybe not the best but pretty up there heh.
I think your statement is flawed, and I think your just nostalgiac for games gone by haha, but I loved most of those games too, and I can understand why you say this, but you need to get out and play some games.
