freedom fries

Super-Size My "Freedom Fries," Please -

Republican Representatives Bob Ney of Ohio and Walter Jones of North Carolina today struck a bold blow for Bush's right to wage unprovoked war: they renamed some menu items at the House of Representatives' cafeterias.

Yes, you can no longer order "French" fries or "French" toast if you dine on Capitol Hill. Instead, you can order "Freedom Fries" to go with your all-American hamburger for lunch, and "Freedom Toast" with a side of O.J. for breakfast.

As of press time, the only comment from the French Embassy is that these erstwhile "French" fries actually come from Belgium.

all this anti-french sentiment is unfounded- especially if it is coming from our representatives in the government. One would think that 30+ year men would be above changing the names of food items simply on the basis that a country does not agree with their policy. As for equating the french to cowards, that is unfounded as well. Examples of french courage would include: the French resistance during WW2, the french foreign legion, and (this should be familiar to all CS players) french special operations forces, such as the GIGN- one of the most skilled and dedicated counter-terrorist units in the world.

eh, i'm rambling again. Damn.

without French involvement during the Revolutionary War, the United States would have not been born. Given this, America owes France for its very existence.
