Comeback Quant
Look who's back and better than ever! This week, the Queen of Mod, Mary Quant, is launching a new ready-to-wear and make-up line at New York City store Henri Bendel. The stuff is already all the rage in Japan and we can't wait to get our hands on some fab fashion classics! Henri Bendel has already firmly established itself as the place where icons go to resurrect their careers, after the successful re-launch of Stephen Burrow's World.
Thank Heaven for Seven!
The lovely three-man team behind super-sleek and super-chic boutique Seven in NYC have already established themselves as the down-town kings of new and interesting retail concepts. Now, they've decided to resurrect a department store classic: creating an in-store label courtesy of their favorite designers. The exclusive Seven line (as in: Imitation of Christ for Seven, Bruce for Seven, As Four for Seven etc.) will be launched earlier this spring.
Dior Does Denim
He brought back the previously oh-so-80s dinner jacket with jeans look, and made distressed denim an integral part of the fashionable man's wardrobe again. Hence, it only makes sense that Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane is now launching his own denim line. The New Dior Homme jeans collection will be launched in January and sold in Dior Homme stores, corners and multibrand shops as part of the spring/summer collection entitled "Follow Me." The pricey pants (€180 – 420 in Europe) are an interesting example of the new notion of exclusivity through designer dilapidation. Each pair of jeans will go through a painstaking patina process including burning, painting, ripping and distressing.
