I had to do an Issues project:
Points have been made about biased news reporting, Ann Coulter states that questions on interviews are biased. Maddox also shines light upon the news coverage incompetence “What I don't understand is [on a website] why they repeat the news so often if they supposedly have so much news to report that it's necessary to scroll additional news across the bottom.” When the war on Iraq began, the occurrences in other parts of the world stopped existing in news coverage. For at least a week the war would pretty much make up an entire news program. News coverage is notorious for reporting on the latest activities of celebrities and such nonsense. Who really cares? A lot of people do, the fact that Fox news hasn‘t gone out of business proves this. On October 9th, 2003 CNN reported that the Midwest and Southern United States would receive rain. Weather has been a source of joy and sorrow for many people of the US. New York’s forecast is partly cloudy, Maddox points out that meteorologists use terminology such as “Partly cloudy” or “Mostly Sunny” but they have the same meaning. “What… is "partly cloudy" supposed to mean? When is it not partly cloudy? Even if it is, or isn't, does it really matter? Does anyone really need to be reminded that it will be partly cloudy tomorrow? As ambiguous as the phrase is, they water it down even more with the word "chance." How useful is it to know that there's a chance it'll be partly cloudy on any given day (as opposed to all those other days when there isn't a chance it'll be partly cloudy)? Weather men use the phrase "partly cloudy" as a buffer every chance they get. Don't believe me? Just tune into a weather forecast. Chances are you'll hear the phrase at least 3 or more times.” The map provided on CNN’s website shows vague pictures of the country with symbols on it, half of the country’s general weather forecasts are not represented on the map, in fact only about 17 areas are covered. If you don’t believe me check it out for yourself.
