while without a doubt biased, the author raises some very valid points. Bush either simply does not care or refuses to see other viewpoints, placing faith in that he is ultimately right. I, for one, am ambivalent towards the war, and mostly fear the economic and political aftermath, which is bound to be bad. Watching his speeches is like hearing a single tape over and over and over again. There is no variation. No attempt to explicate something that may have arisen recently. He is, in that respect, very single-minded. Short war in Iraq? Not very likely, given that we must seige every city, including the capitol, fighting in brutal close quarter combat. Good economic fortunes after the war? Not very likely either. Economic experts predict that if the war lasts over 30 days, the world's economy would fall to shambles (http://www.topica.com/lists/psychoh...&start=4389). Few civilian casualties? Not very likely either, given that we are invading a country and under the time contraints placed upon us by potential economic disaster, there is no possible way to take the country without mass city bombing. There is only so much technology can accomplish, and the technological advances we have made (smart bombs to name an example) are not suited for quick invasions. There comes a point in any invasion when the army must be sent in to flush out all semblence of resistance- this is a very lengthy process, not to mention that there is a high risk for civilian casualties. Another seemingly apparent solution would be the aforementioned mass bombings. Not only will that create huge civilian casualties (and therefore enflame the world against us) but also, it would create a literal killing battlefield, as the Germans learned during Stalingrad.
Having already addressed the economic aftermath, I'll turn to the political aftermath. Actually, i've already written up on it yes i am a lazy bastard so you can read it here: http://jusunlee.com/forums/showthre...threadid=11071.
(about 2/3rds down the page).
These are the issues that I want reassurance of. Sudaam Hussein is a bad man, yes, we all know that, the Iraqi people know that- and we get bombarded with liberal amounts of information about that all the time. But what about the aftermath? The Administration's objective has never been very clear since the beginning of the War on Terrorism, and the Iraq issue is no different. Especially now, on the brink of pure economical catastrophe, we simply cannot afford to have a vague and unspecified endplan.

haha yep, the dude simply has no variation. Apparently he had a bunch of notecards with possible questions on them (the press weren't very good about asking hard-line inquiries- rumors have it that press members were told to ask only certain questions, a rumor that would not be surprising if verified) with answers from his old speeches that he read.
