perhaps it's that adult taboo, when you hit 21 or whatever, you seem more like an adult, so adult + adult = not too many problems. but when people with the same age gap at a younger age (say, a 15 yr old and a 20yr old) date, it sounds like the older person is a bit too old.
There's hugh hefner, whom i think has very young female companions. So, it all boils down to a matter of personal preference. The best I can do is state my own preference: I'd date anyone within two years of my age, older and younger. Although I'd feel slightly uncomfortable with an older companion. Then again, that's probably how some girls think, too.
