Okay everybody. I'd appreciated it if you could all help me out. For my final essay in my english class I have to write about Gender differences in Computer Mediated Communications. One of the things I will be talking about is how women are treated a lot differently. I figured what better place to find out my claim than from the sources right?

okay ladies, when you use forums and instant messengers do you feel that if a guy finds out you're a girl the sexual inuendos increase and do you find that you are starting to be harassed?

and guys, when you find out somebody you're chatting to do you start "hitting" on her?


I won't be making any specific references in my paper to your expeniences and won't be using names or anything so don't worry. If you could help it out I'd really appreciated it.

girls tend to talk a certain way, so it is easier to tell when someone is a female. Whether it be feminine colors, font, overuse of emoticons, or saying "how are you" instead of "what's up"...it is usually not a surprise when someone is female online. It emmanates outward usually.

If i find out it is a girl, sometimes i am more polite, sometimes not. Usually the latter.

David puts it pretty well. I too, am usually polite or more formal, but not always. As of late, I don't really talk with people as often as I used to, especially with females I've known in the past, unless it's my sister or her friends or older people like that (which I do approach differently than with my contemporaries), but since I sort of avoid contact with those people I don't really have any situations where I wouldn't want to be more polite.

hmm yeah .. well, if its someone i just start talking to and they dont kno if im a girl or guy yet .. its like .. normal .. but once they kno im a girl with MOST (not all) guys its .. do u have a bf? how far have u got? what are u wearing? .. but thats just meeting people in chatrooms..if its someone i know and am chatting with from school or something..their usually not different...and then with people i meet in chat rooms and ive talked to for a while .. their not like they were when they first started talkin to me .. they seem to chill with all the questions asked just because im a girl, lol .. but sometimes when im bored .. i put it upon myself where they would ask those questions and if i didnt say something .. they wouldnt of asked them lol .. but when i do that im usually fukin around wuth em newayz..confusing

heh most ppl think im a guy unless i say so otherwise hum i dont really flirt with guys online, i duno i guess i chat the same way with whoever, jus tat i am less crazy with ppl i dont really know. i don go to chat rooms n all so cant help u there.
