I get the luxury of reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck, one of the worst authors, in my opinion. The Pearl was just a sad excuse for a book. I just can't seem to get in to his style of writing. It's just so incredibly boring. Anyway, I have one month to go and basically a whole book to go.

I used to just have to read Gulliver's Travels so it was sweet, but today i just received in the mail another book called Sophia's World or something like that...i'm too lazy to go see what it is called exactly. It's like a 500 page history of philosophy book, hmmmm...i'm not looking forward to it that much i guess. It's not like i have a whole lot of time to read them, ahh and i was going to read Lord of the Flies finally, oh well i guess that can wait.

Ahhh! Lord of the Flies was oh so good. There's nothing better than a bunch of young kids on an island killing themselves. Okay...so it's a big gruesome and disturbing....I still liked it, though. :satisfy:

Freshman summer: (i forgot what the title... i barely remember the story...)
Sophomore summer: Up From Slavery (dreaded doing the notes for that)
Junior summer (this year): Grapes of Wrath (hrm.. & got to do chapter notes for that as well...)

presently, i read Jane Erye on and off on my off-time and i find it very well written. i mean, it is pretty wordy... lots of desribing... but i like it very much.
road to manzanaar? not Farewell to Manzanaar? oh well, i guess there's another book based on the Japanese encampment during ww2... hrm...

heh, For us we get to read a cool book and a gay book.

Freshman: Ender's game + Gentlehands
Sophomore: Dracula + A Seperate Peace.

People are too obsessed w/Jane Erye. The book was so so, the musical has ok music if you listen to it only once and not 50 million times.

For us it was Gentlehands, I don't know what you guys had to read. For us Ender's game was optional and Gentlehands was mandatory.

So we had to choose between
Enders game
My sister's bones
And some other book, I forgot what it was though.

If you don't like Ender's game then you're lucky if you don't have to read Gentlehands. The "Protagonist" is a gay loser. He has a girlfriend and he ruins the relationship on purpose for no particular reason. His grandfather was a former nazi who tortured people and had the nickname Gentlehands.

"My grandfather is not a nazi, I'll defend him to the end" - thats ok and show determination and love

"The summer was nearing it's end, why not rush the relationsihp to it's doomed ending?" - Thats gay and shows how much of a gay loser this guy is.
