oooo i just saw a bunch of old movies my dad rented so i'll recommend a few with a brief plot overview:

shanghai triad - starring gong li, li bao tian, li xuejian
it's about Chinese gangs, sort of like the chinese version of godfather. it's pretty good, but it lacks depth. however, it was beautifully shot.

mississippi burning - starring gene hackman, william dafoe
nominated for 6 academy awards, including best picture! it's about FBI agents who go to miss. to investigate the disappearance of 3 people, 2 white civil rights activists and 1 black man. really, really good.

papillon - starring dustin hoffman, steve mcqueen
about 2 french criminals (nobody in this movie speaks any french at all; in fact, there's more spanish than french ahha) who repeatedly try to escape from prison in the caribbean islands. pretty good, but really long.

u should rent amelie lol thats a good movie...bollywood movies are always good to rent hahaha they r funny! but Asoka is a really good move lol
