Im really pleased to have finally found a picture of him.
Ignoring the mascot behind him, it's a really good picture.
Koboyashi is a competitive eater. He is Japanese, 5'7", around 131lbs, and born in 1978 making him 25 years old^_^ He holds a world record or two. pretty neat, right?

the picture is from the Coney Island contest. There's a documented special on it that you might be able to catch every now and then on the Discovery channel. the title of the show is "Gutbusters" and it follows three contest winner hopefuls on their trip to coney island. It also explains the gastronomical aspects of competitive eating. Very interesting stuff! You see very little of Koboyashi, though:(

i watched somehtin like that like a huuuge hot dog eating contest but the guy who won was japanese but it didnt look like him..i guess it could of been someone else hes kinda cyute! damn thats a lotta hot dogs! i cant even eat 2 hahaa

I knew that name was familiar... what that person can do is insane. I remember reading about him and then I saw him on that one fox special where they had a great "eat-off" of sorts, and he was going against these really amazing eaters. He was the only one that appeared to be healthy though, for what he does, he's really in shape. The guy works out a ton.

Koboyashi holds no job. He lives off of the prize money from three big paying events each year. He spends his free time working out. He normally doesn't eat very much until about a month before competition. Around that time, he begins to increase his food intake and drinks copious amounts of water. I read somewhere that he's thinking of retiring from competitive eating. He is worried about the long-term effects on his health. And...I can't really remember what else I read.
Competitive eating in Japan is very serious. It can pay out a lot of money. Most of the competitors are in shape(unlike the American eaters). There is a theory that centers around the "fat belt" Thin people don't have the crushing weight of the "fat belt" to inhibit their eating while overweight people can't eat as much in one sitting due to the limited space in their bodies...something like that. Watch Gutbusters=_=;; It spells it all out.
oh yeah, I did see that program on fox. It was called Glutton Bowl. It aired during the Olympics. That's how I first heard of Koboyashi-kun:) I thought he looked like a J-rocker

yeah...I'd try to sound smart or something right about now, but...he really *IS* cute...but there's such a picture shortage on him...SO impossible to find him. I always scramble for a blank tape whenever I catch a glimpse of him on TV
