cdburner question

wsup fellas and fellettes... i have a less than intermediate nkowledge of comps so excuse me if i sound retarded ... my brother found a cd burner and we wanna use it on this .. dell.. d=D hhaha i dunno .. anywayz.. theres nothing except the burner itself.. what do i need other than the ac adapter? do i need to buy software or program for it.. tell me tell me tell me

is it external or internal?

ur gonna need a scsi card if its external. and i think ur gonna need some other type of card if its internal (sorry, dont know them) . u need drivers for the cards, but i dont think u need one for the burner.

get a cd burning program too.

my guess is that it is USB external correct? Just plug it in when you restart. If you are running 98/XP it will open a add new hardware program. select install from cd-rom drive. thats all i can tell you for now, i have an internal

just download nero or something..some cd drives dont need drivers, but some do

for me, i juss stuck my burner into an empty bay, hooked it up inside, installed nero, n i was good to go......but i dont have an external drive, so im not quite sure......my comp (nero, maybe? i forget) juss kinda auto-detected it, so it was easy for me....

sang has an external..u cant put an external drive inside your computer nor can u put an internal and use it as an external...well actually u can but its all ghetto and shit

thanks doods and non doodettes.. i dunno shit about scsi and usb and all that. i'm running xp... and there are coupla things in the back of the burner for me to plug .. the ac.. dur.. a "scsi-1" slot.. and a "scsi-2" slot.. and a line out R and L.. which i think is nothing... so what does that mean.. i neeed two scsi watchamacallits? or just one?

drivers = i wouldnt know, but it would be nice to just make sure to update them just in case.

programs = why pay $20? just go d/l nero. it should be free.
