Exclamation bootleg XP Corp. users screwed.

Since the release of Windows XP Professional, Microsoft has discovered that the vast majority of illegitimate copies in use are using a small handful of leaked "corporate" keys. In an effort to thwart these illegitimate users, Windows XP Service Pack 1 (and possibly all future updates) will not install on systems using these keys, and it is unclear what additional steps Microsoft may take in the future. Microsoft claims that legitimate licensed users of XP Professional should be unaffected, however there are a number of different ways one of these leaked keys can find it's way into an otherwise legal environment and cause serious deployment issues.

IN OTHER WORDS.
Microsoft realized that like around (i think) 80% of all Corporate XP users used a bootlegged/ripped/copied version of Windows. So those Microsoft bastards decided to make Service Pack 1 have a function that will search for your Product Key and if it matches it with one of the leaked internet fake keys they will do something to your computer. Microsoft tried to keep this project as secret as possible so it hits us unexpectedly. They didnt even tell us what will happen if they find a "fake" product key on the computer. Im telling you guys to back up whatever you had so when SP 1 comes out you guys are left with nothing. Im glad that i use MS 2000 Pro but im trying to beg my friend into giving me his XP Home serial key and code.

Yeah, I heard about this too. I'm not gonna install SP1 for XP until somebody finds a hack or a different cd key of some sort. There is always a way.

i think that there will always people who can crack the microsoft code. rite now there are activation cracks and stuff like that. so even with this new service pack i think it will still be possible to make it so you can use multiple keys on other computers. and did anyone hear that windows is going open source?

Exactly! That's what I've been saying for a long time! All those hackers and crackers out there will make or find some kind of backdoor to bypass all this crap.

everything isn't perfect. now if it isn't perfect, than it's pretty much have a weak spot. microsoft isn't perfect, i know that for a fact. in terms of software, every software that has been or will be made, can or will be hacked. (just takes time)

Well, someone has managed to disable the beta release so I dont see any problem with the full release. Isn't too hard to get around such problems, just install with a serial number that isn't being circulated around the net. Yup I'm sitting on WinXP with SP1!

No matter how much MS trys to stop people from using pirated versions of their s/w there will always be some way around it. Even if WinXP SP-1 stops those using serial numbers which are illegal, it just takes ONE valid serial number and everyone will be doing it all over again. What MS is doing is just an irratation more then anything else.

The beta hasn't bugged me yet...!
