live shows are typically played back seconds after it goes through the studio booth to check for swearing, nudity, etc. As in, it is not a direct feed to your television, it goes through the studio, and they route it to you several seconds after it happened in real time so it is nearly live so to speak, but not really live.
shows like TRL air their shows to audiences with a difference of 7 seconds. That is how when you see live shows, they are able to censor things.
My guess is that the people did not catch it. Lazy lazy.
