Question question

i have two hardrives in the computer
both on primary master and primary slave.
bios detects it, and the boot seqeuence detects it.
but when windows (xp) loads, its only detecting one, but i know the 2nd hardrive is in the computer, plus bios already decteted it and should be "installed". friends tell me to reformat it, but when i try through windows xp, it saids repair/install under C: and no D or w/e listed. the hardrive was detected and usuable before, but after reformat and fresh installatin of windows xp, i dont know what happened to it.
help would be greatly appreciated

alright. check this out.

[start][control pannel][administrative tools][computer management]

then at the left side click on disk management. if you said your bios detects it, it should be listed under this. you should be able to see both your drive C: and drive D: including the partition drives.

if you see the drive you need format it and then see it. be sure both of your drives have the same file system. it is the best if you keep both of them same no matter if it is ntfs or fat32. i prefer ntfs but its your choice.

another thing you might want to check your jumpers again. see if they are correct. in bios you should also let it auto detect your primary slave and primary drives. i hope it works.

Is there some way for you to see if the primary slave device is still functional? As in performing a temporary new installation of windows on the slave device with the master device removed? I know it sounds roundabout... so you might instead want to try the harddrive on another computer and see if it is detected.
