------my thoughts 'n personal experience------
that's tha problem wit 2day...the ignorant simply judge witout even tryin to understand the truth.
wit dis particular issue, from readin wut u said, the delegates simply judged rappin negatively cuz of how the media portrays it.
i'm not sayin that rappers don't do drugs...sum do...
but drugs, violence, 'n sex is wut's reported 'n associated wit hip-hop which gives it a bad image to the uneducated.
from my experience, bout 10-11 years, A LOT of people think that hip-hop is all bout drugs, violence, 'n sex.
all i hear is that it's negative, wut good can u git outta it, blah blah blah.
i understand their view(s), but they're judgin solely based on wut they read in the papers 'n the news...which doesn't do a good job of portrayin rap correctly...most of the times, it only reports the negatives, no positives.
a philly newspaper had an editorial column in it wit the headline "rapper dies violent death portrayin lifestyle"...those weren't the exact words, but similar...neway it was focused on the great late Jam Master Jay from Run-DMC. but that article went onto point out how his 'gangsta' lifestyle was the result of his violent death...which is COMPLETE BULLSHIT...no credibility at all.
but an article like dis doesn't do ne justice for Jam Master Jay nor does it do ne good for the hip-hop image. i knoe people read that article 'n must've thought hip-hop is sum bad shiet.
that's y we gotta educate people to help them understand that hip-hop is not all bout drugs, violence, 'n sex....there's more to it that that.
to make shit brief, hip-hop is an art of expressions consisted of four elements: DJin, B-Boyin, Graffit art, 'n MCin. uze of these are to express yourself in a unique style u create.
don't git shit twisted...don't believe all tha hype
