I guess it's a debate about what's better, a faster comp, or better value for your money.
Usually, there's a proportion between performance and cost. But the lim as x->top of the line hardware of (Computers) = $^max
So you're paying a premium just because it's the best that the industry's got out there. Some people say that it's an extreme waste, because the value of such top of the line hardware depreciates more quickly than does mid-range hardware. Many enthusiasts think that it's worth it because of the additional, albeit more expensive, performance. And there are always those who buy the most powerful parts just because they've got such copious budgets.
