i don't think games really are focused a lot more on graphics now than gameplay, many games released nowadays have groundbreaking and innovative gameplay that hasn't ever been seen in any other games....
when you say anime, do you mean just animation?
anime is japanese animation. and by U.S. anime, do you mean the animation made in the u.s. that is inspired by/influenced by anime.
