Stylist Andrea Lieberman called the Roberto Cavalli minidress that Lopez wears on In Style's January cover "a modern reinterpretation of sexy, old movie-star images," referencing Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot. She spotted the pale pink number with lace insets on Cavalli's Italian catwalk and ordered it with the superstar in mind. The dress's "corseted sexiness" says makeup artist Scott Barnes, is "a little romantic, a little risqué." This crinkled georgette dress by Jiwon Park (near right) evokes the same mix of ballerina and rock star ($990; at Steam in Miami, 305-669-9991).

i dun like the ruffly stuff on the bottom of j.lo's dress, but the other one is pretti. i didn't noe those things were called frocks tho
