Need help using Cool Edit Pro(the recording program)

I know how to record my voice, but I don't know how to record both my voice and the music, or how to mix my voice and the music correctly. Can someone help me, or point out a good tutorial to teach me how to use this program, or point out a better program to record me singing?
'Cause I really wanted to post some of my singing in here(although I suck...) to get some help(someone telling me what I could do to sing better) and stuff like that...
Thanks in advance

assuming you're using 1.2a, go into multitrack view (by clicking the graphic under "file"), right click an empty track, then select insert > wave from file, and select the beat you want to put in. then create a blank waveform, then record your acapella onto it. after thats all done, go back to multitrack view, follow the same procedure that you used while inserting the instrumental, and position it so your voice is on beat with the music. after that, go to edit > mix down > all waves, and it'll create a new wave form with the beat mixed with the acapella. save it and thats it. hope i wrote it out clearly enough, if you got anymore questions ask.

Thanks, it's kinda late here(I live in Brazil) so I'm going to sleep, gonna test it tomorrow.
Thanks!

here's an easier way - just figured it out ....

just go into track view, then put the intstrumental into one track, then click the red R button in an empty track, hit record, and that way it'll all be synched together. then mix it down like normal. good luck with it.
