A french monument is a symbol for america......weird....
The Statue of liberty....it's world renowned to be associated with america and freedom and stuff. but the funny thing is....it's not american made.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the french. Doesn't anybody think it's weird that one of the greatest symbols of america isn't american?
just some food for thought.

the base was made in america i think
i don't think it's weird at all. Freedom is freedom regardless of where it's from. It's an american symbol made in part by the french (yeah the base was made in america i believe), simple as that.

oh wow... i never knew the base was made here.
this is so not debate forum material. I just stated that the statue of liberty is a french engineered monument and how it's wierd that it's a symbol of the US

o yea did you know that the early presidents of america were not really americans at all? nope they were known as english subjects...
didn't the statue used to be orange cuz it's made out of copper?
well, like psychosnowman sed, it duzn't matter where it's from - just wut it symbolizes
well i dunno being "american" ... we had a talk about this in us history class.... being "american" is more like an ideal... freedom, yea is defintely an "american" ideal .... wait thomas paine was american right? lol
well technically it was a gift to the US so it is ours now lol. who cares where it was made... probably all the novelty american flags are made in china.... ever thought about that?

a symbol does not have to belong to the creator. I really don't know what is so odd about this. It's a gift,...that's it.
