Why do most famous korean singers wear so much makeup??

Im just curious, why do they wear tons of makeup? For example: H.O.T (Git It up, Tony has blue eye liner on, Outside Castle, heejun, well of course hee jun did, and It seems that they all wear lipstick including shinhwa, not as much anymore since theyre trying for a mature look, I mean I can see a touchup for t.v. but just too much foundation, I know, cuz when I took pictures for korean clothing mag. they put all this crap on my face, I looked like a girl...
I think it kind of cool they do that, you know, like an unique look.

I guess that's just the way it is... If you haven't noticed, ALL stars put a lot of make up on... Including ones here in the US... If you look carefully at them, a lot of stars have freckles... And other things...

Maybe some of the stars don't even want to wear a lot of make up but they are forced to... You never know... One of us should become a star for a while and tell the inside story!!! haha.... That'd be really cool!

It's the same reason y dey get surgery, to look 'better, prettier, cleaner' all those thingz to make them more than they are..

I don't like seeing pix ob celebs w/ a thick layer of foundation..u can tell by looking at their arms or neck~!euGh~! it's scary sumtimz but also pretti amazing wut it could do to u.

It's all'bout the loox~ the whole concept is to fit in basically..as to ur own gender (sterotype) (sp correct?! iono) but yea...heh

I think it's wrong...just plain wrong...guys should not be wearing blue liner or any kind of colorful makeup of female kind on their faces. They may be pretty boys already...but that does not give them license to pamper themselves like girls. Might as well go full blown like Harisu...which is by the way...the most successful sex change i've ever seen.
Anyway, the guys and girls already have nice skin, and they shouldn't clog up them pores with tons of pancake.
They already look good!

and media and fans can be really critical sometimes... how many times have you seen threads that say '(-insert name here-) with pimples / without make up' with replies that says 'ewww' and all.

what the heck are you talking about? how is it JUST PLAIN WRONG?.... people are free to do whatever they want.... okay... i agree.... harisu is kinda... yea.... but at least he... she is pretty...haha

okay... to answer hyesungu's question.... first of all... makeup makes you pretty..... yea it does... yeat it does yea it does yea it does..... that's why girls wear it... and on stage... they look hecka white...... i used to do dance... and i'd wear a ton of makeup.... off stage i'd look like a whore... but on stage.. i looked... normal...

and as for the guys.... they do it to STAND OUT..... notice how.... H.O.T did the weird makeup and the metal fingernails and the weird hair.... but they were like the MOST POPULAR K-POP GROUP EVER.... it made them.... different from the other groups..... even AS more boy groups were being put out every year.....they were still unique ..... if you see.... earlier... they started out pretty normal.... and even CUTE (like adorable... the candy stage....)... but as they get older as a group... they need to change themselves to make them different from the OTHER gasoos that are around....so.... the re-invented themselves every album.... and the best way for a guy to stand out is with... hair makeup and clothes..... as is for everyone....

make up accentuates your features..... if you do it right.... guys are just as much entitled to wear makeup as girls.....if they want to..... and even guy ballerinas wear make up.... so PSH.... you are very close minded WhiteLee..... sorry~~~~~ :huh:

your right, it's completely wrong. Girls are special, they have the license to wear makeup. It's insulting that guys would even try to wear makeup! It's only for girls and simply put...wrong. Only girls deserve to pamper themselves like that!, and guys just shouldn't. (that's all sarcasm if you can't tell)

BTW, i'm only putting words in your mouth that you implicated. So yes, i am putting words in your mouth but you instigated it and by merely saying "i didn't say that!" isn't going to get you anywhere. Because in a way you did. I agree with MelloYello, you are extremely closeminded, and if you think about it...hypocritical as well (as girls dive into guy styles and such (ex. boxers)). With this mentality, you could easily set the differentiation between girls and guys as the usage and no usage of makeup and any non-use of it would implicate a wrong doing by stepping into the "guys non-pampering license" by a girl and vice versa. See? Guys should be as "licensed" as girls are. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that guys first invented makeup (no sexist intent, if it's wrong; correct me, no offense intended) So why should they be not allowed to wear it? You have a very traditional outlook and it's ugly in my opinion (arguing the worth of my opinion is beside the point). :sad: ...sorry.

On the actual question, i'd say that they do it for the same reason american artists (and probably other countries artists) do it. To look better and to attract attention to themselves. I agree with pretty much everyone here.

I just don't like dudes who wear makeup (eyeshadow, liner, etc.) and what not.
It creeps me out.
So when I said my "closed-minded wrong" I meant it just looks weird.
It's my personal preference, so sorry it disagrees with yours.
