House Bill Could Shut Down File Sharing

Listen up all you Kazaa/Morpheus and whatever else P2P software you other people use.

A California Democrat introduced a bill Thursday that would make sharing of copyrighted files illegal, and would indemnify copyright holders from taking whatever actions they chose to prevent the sharing of those files.
The effect, if approved by Congress and signed into law, would be to virtually outlaw file-sharing as is commonly known. The bill was authored by and introduced by Rep. Howard L. Berman, a California Democrat representing the 26th Congressional District, which includes North Hollywood. Berman is the ranking member of the Congressional Committee on the Judiciary's subcommittee on courts, the Internet, and intellectual property.

imo, this bill doesnt scare me. even if the bill is attempting to shut down 75% of the internet. and i find it useless that they're wasting their time because the copyright holders still can't hit file-sharing at it's source. Even if they wanted to start hacking file traders, they don't have the resources or time to hack down the hundreds of millions of users out there. They'd need an army of talented hackers to even make a dent.

theyll never shut us down.

it is very hard to find out everyone sharing files on the internet. i guess if they passed a bill, they could monitor ISP's to see what people are downloading and where they're getting it from. But there will always be file sharing. unless they go around taking away everyones modem and eventually shut down the internet.

mirc will still be up though, right? I find it unfathomable that they could actually stop it from happening, and properly punish people for file sharing.
