posting in random thoughts...

should the posts made in this forum contribute to your overall post counts? poll closes in 3 days.

-edit-
please vote everyone as this will concern all of you.

also, please be aware that all pervious posts made in this forum will be deducted from everyone's posts counts if 'no' wins out.

I vote no. The occurence earlier demonstrates the potential and the ability of even the existing users to post at extreme speed and randomness.

there is a 30 second anti-flood limit between posts (moderators are exempt). another solution may be to set a higher number.

Posted by sangxjin on 07-28-2002 03:11 PM:

i realized since this is a random thoughts area..people are more likely to spam here than any other forum. so i voted no.

reandom thoughts can be anything...you can write all the bullshit thats not irrelevent to anything and it still counts on your total

..i voted no

Hmm... I voted yes because it's just been lately that people have been spamming... buh I noticed that the mods are doing the spamming... Yes, includes me too... I would say more buh...

Posted by TAIgrr on 07-28-2002 10:38 PM:

k, i didnt vote at all cause im not sure.

i'd say NO, IT SHOULDNT COUNT because sometimes there's a spam.

and i'd say YES, IT SHOULD COUNT because the spam thing earlier this week was just a once thing. I think i started it cause Jusun said he would have liked to see someone beat seonho at posting. but i dont think anyone is spamming like that anymore. well....atleast i'm not.
i guess the spam earlier just took place once to get some excitement going on the forums..
it wont happen again

As long as there is a brink, it will most definately happen again.

What you're saying is like someone telling themselves that war would never happen again. Utopian and unrealistic.

i dunt no. i just think people are making a way too much of a big deal out of this. if you dont like the thred, just leave it. ignore it. thats what i do. and who cares if the people are getting posts up, it doesnt mean anything to be the "top poster"

so what if someone gets a high post count from posting here? why does it make a difference? Most of you got all your posts from posting here. I voted yes, I think it's funny that this question even had to be considered.

Have you guys not notice that these forums have finally become active again??? It was boring for so long... so dull... and now because we're actually posting again... it's fun... so what does that have to do with post counts??? Nothing really, I just want the post counts to stay... again, it doesn't matter so just leave it as the way it is...

Posted by Crazydeb8ter on 07-29-2002 05:39 AM:

why should the question be considered you ask?
Not everyone who joins will be people who do not really care about post count. There are people who join for the sake of raising their post count and enjoy spamming in order to do so. Not only does that make it less enjoyable for people to go through 12 different topics of spam, but also it gives the spammer the pleasure of raising their post count because that is what they enjoy.

My point is to deprive them of that pleasure, and to destroy their incentive to post spam topics from the start.

blehs. just let them be. ignore them. sooner or later, when they dont get the attention they want, theyll stop.

Victor, all this spamming will stop sooner or later... and besides... it probably already did... let things stay the way they are... I just think that mebbe we should make rules... so the spamming will stop... besides, the spamming in the random thoughts... it's not just one word or smilies kinda spamming... at least they say something... like in the "say something nice" thread... they are complimenting people... iono how it turned out to be spamming... buh if you consider it spamming... then sure... I'm not going to argue...

so basically, this is what I think:

leave the post counts as they are
make more rules about spamming

Hmm... I don't have anything more to say...

yeah yeah yeah... that WWI stuff... uhm, this isn't a world war... and who cares if they spam... just make rules... rules rules rules

Posted by Crazydeb8ter on 07-29-2002 06:06 AM:

rules can be and are broken, and in this forum, enforcement is lax. Though this is not an actual war, it serves as a similar event to demostrate the potentiality for events to repeat over and over again.

We'll take another example. Stock speculation, has happened multiple time since the 1700's in the US even though most people should realize that depression is usually the aftermath effect. The only reason why it doesn't happen now, is because if one does so, he/she gets sent off to jail. But in this case, we do not have a jail, thus exterminating the deterrant preventing people from repeating the same actions.
