WTF~ this is so messed up....

The headline from the Chicago Sun-Times was "Nation of dog-eaters turns
us off to World Cup." Racism against any one of our groups reflects on us all. In the
wake of Korea's fabulous success in this year's world cup now
advancing to the semi-finals, the US news media is not only failing to recognize this,
but > > is instead focusing negative attention on dog-eating. > > Check out the article in
the Chicago Sun-Times - link is below.

what i got from the article was that
he was voicing his own opinion, which was dog eating was bad; but also gives out the statement that he didn't know any better because he himself was told not to cook something because of the ingredients he used.

a very ass-kissing article imo, trying to please both sides, but in the end he sides towards the western view saying that his opinion was that dog eating is bad.

yea hes a shithead tho

it is pretty sick to eat dogs tho...

the article isn't that great. It claims it turns "us" off, but in fact it's just him voicing his opinion and then backing it up with facts like how it was banned in the 1988 olympics and that britain and the US thinks it's disgusting to eat.

He gives both sides, but then sides upon the western ideals and doesn't even answer to the Korean guy's view "that is no more strange than that of countries where people enjoy eating pigeon, snail, and horse meat." Which is a good point, and he just acts like it's continually disgusting for no explicit reason. Why is it disgusting? Because it IS? that's all i get from this, that and we domesticate them...so what?

He then starts explaining it in a more positive way by stating: "Koreans have farms that raise a special breed of dogs for eating. Restaurants don't just snatch pets off the street." But then he has the audcacity to slip in the comment: "At least, that's the story." What?!? Ok, just continue antagonizing without warrant.

The article is really quite absurd if you ask me if you look at it in its entirety. It does contain some arguments but you have to look for them.

i agree. he didnt think it through and came across as almost immature in his views.

yeah, people think its sick for koreans to eat dogs, but what about people who think us eating pig is sick? pigs are dirtier animals than dogs, so we really have no room to talk.

word man. the tongue of a dog is cleaner than the dinner plates people use to eat off of

Just because he keeps a dog for a pet he makes it seem bad that people eat dogs. Some people keep chickens for pets. And what did he eat before he was married? "sloppy Joes using Campbell's chicken gumbo soup" Although someone might pop in and say Campbell's soup doesn't have real chicken (I don't know) there are a lot of Americans who eat chicken.
