White washed? Korean Washed? etc

What are your opinions on the term 'White-Washed'?
What does it mean to you? Would if offend you if someone said you were white-washed?
DISCUSS! haha.

doesn't white wased mean somebody who is not white tries to be white?

1) hey, if that's his/her thing, fine. i don't need to change other people's perceptions.
2) if somebody called me whitewashed i'd laugh at the asshole and then tell em to fuck off. i dont' believe any race is superior to others.

White washed does not mean that you try to be white... It means that you have been so into white people that you do everything white.... you even talk white... I dunno how to explain it but I know what it means...

That's what it means down here anyway...

its both what Racer Ladi Moon and Huby said. It means both that you want to be white and also that you've been around them so long that you basiclly are them, willingly or not.

either way white-washed peoples act like whites.

well i go to a school with no koreans so does that mean i'm whitewashed?

i thought whitewashed was a bad thing......and if it is, its not that persons fault if he/she doesn't have any korean friends.

dese are only OPINIONS~ and ima apologize before hand if i sound like i'm stating facts. and i'm not directing this to one particular person...

ANYWAY. . .
i think of being white washed as acting like american whites..and living like them..i think it doesnt really matter if you have korean friends or not..it might have an effect...but das not wut makes you "white washed"
i was born here...and speak fluently enuff to hold on a good conversation...but i wanna learn more..and i'm proud of my fob-ie mother and family..and yet..i went to a skool filled with white american people...so yea..

"white trash" over here is used when one sees a "typical" low class white person [stereotypes]. or when they see a really rude white person.

oh yea that's exactly me....

someone called me white washed once... the funny thing is.. i started out "the american born fob"..... okay what the hell... just cuz i don't hang out with the asians anymore doesn't mean i'm white washed... i mean... look where i am! and you can't say "white washed" because... well here.. all cultures are like.... blended together... so everthing is a part of everything else... americans didn't invent everything.... some white girl wears chopsticks... and i wear chopsticks... does that mean i'm white washed? ( i don't wear chopsticks.... like in my hair... ew total disrespect! i eat with those.. )

and i KNOW.... that most of the so asian crowd doesn't know how to speak their own language... right... okay i have another question to bring to attention

how do you have pride for your ethnicity with out knowing part of the language?

i mean.. sure you can have some amount of pride.. but you don't really understand WHAT you're proud of... no matter how much you translate things into english.. it just doesn't mean the same thing as in the language it's supposed to be....

okay sorry i'm not racist... just had to say that..haha

so okay back to the topic... being white washed.... psh wutever... it's called being a 'normal' teen(i also don't believe in the word normal... this is no... norm)... exactly what types of stuff would you have to do and look to be white washed... cuz ya know... a lot of the styles originated from like japan and china and korea..... it just moved over here like a year later... by then the real "fobs" are already done with that fashion and starting on another... so i don't believe it's the clothes.... and so what. "talking like them...going to the mall, watching movies... being a cheerleader?!?!?...."

okay hello.... talking like them? it's called slang.... mall? yea you think there aren't malls everywhere else... movies... that's ridiculus... and cheerleader.... haha sure... wutever you want to think

yea... white washed? korean washed? you just adapt to your surroundings..if you live in korea.... of course you're gonna start to blend into the .... everything... and if you live in the states...you are eventually going to start to dress and talk like everyone else..... doesn't mean you're anything washed... it just means you're conforming to your surroundings.... even the kids who claim to have asian pride..... are more "white-washed" than they think.....

whoa was that a doozie?

haha i agree...most of the time i juss call em wannabes. But still, most are cool so i don't really care that much.

I don't really know what it means...I think of it as you want to be 'white' or whatever so you're not really proud of your own ethnicity. if someone called me that I guess I might be offended since I'm not 'white' and don't intend to be. but what's with calling them whites? like American? or European? that's kinda calling them a name because of the colour of their skin...and it's not even white anyway -_-"

"it's called being a 'normal' teen(i also don't believe in the word normal... this is no... norm)... " -MellowYellow
I know it's in quotation marks, but if you don't believe in the word then why use it? I don't believe in it either...there is no typical teen in my opinion...bleh~
