situation

This is the current situation

J: Hey you're Irish right?

Aman: What is the term for a person who depicts the masses in a piece of literature?

Pretty much everyone: I don't know/remember

Now does anyone here know what a person in a piece of literature that depicts a common person is called?

Now here's an example:

In the play Macbeth there is a scene with people talking about thier views on the occurrence regarding Duncan. The old man says stuff, this old man represents the common people.

So what do you call him?

umm, a representative?

Posted by Alchemist on 09-04-2003 09:20 PM:

It's not like having a representative at the senate or something.
It's more like having a satire of the common people through one minor character. Or perhaps not a satire but an allusion.
