What's a FOB???

Yeah, I know FOB means "Fresh Off the Boat" but there are so many different definitions... what's the RIGHT definition???

So far, I've heard three definitions

-dresses rich, drives a nice car, acts rich... but really, just depends on mom and dad for money

-trying to smoke, do drugs, acohol... basically ghetto

-doesn't know how to dress, English sucks, tries to be cool

so what's the real definition?

koreans with parents who got buttloads of money
koreans who can't speekkk en-g-lish
koreans who wear only top brands (but they dont' know how to dress for about few months)
once they start drive it's usually lexus or bmw
jus' cuz they are from korea they think they are all hard and good at fight (they think they can beat up anyone)

eh that's all can think of now..... imma fob but imma poor broke no-speekkkk-en-g-lish fob ka ka kaa

those are DEFINITIONS of fobs. those are wat people generalize about fobs they know or they've seen. not all fobs wear brand name clothes or drive nice cars or speak bad english. I WAS ONCE I FOB... i know.. some fobs (fresh off the boat) speak good english becuz some countries are english-speaking countries. they just have accents dats all.

yea!!

i find it particularly insulting to be called one..well i duno why. its as if the US is such a great great country and everybody country in asia is like primate village countries who can't speak english well. bah!! it should be FOA fresh of airplane, get with the times man!!

don't we only refer Koreans as fobs?
i dont think they necessarily have to be rich, or drive nice cars
maybe just recently come from korea/only hangs out with koreans

no. people here think fobs are asian people who speak english with an accent.
but the way i interpret "fob" is by one being from a different country who speaks the country's language with an accent. so..if we were to all visit Spain for a month and we tried to speak Spanish, we would be fobs to them becuz we speak their native language with an accent, however, i guess "fob" is an "asian" term/slang.

and I thought FOB's were generalized for ALL asians, not just Koreans... because Hmongs get called FOBs too... hmm

i think those are generalizations and stereotypes. i don't even think FOB is listed under the dictionary; it's just a term some people coined
