no, i don't think it's that similar to the other game that seon ho described, other than the use of stones. That game sounds like a variation of connect 4, except it's 5. Go is a strategy game where you surround your opponents stones and defend territory at the same time.

I played that game before, we drew the board on a piece of paper and used chess pieces because there weren't any stones.
Plastic Army men would work too I guess.
