How does paypal work? Is it that you buy something and it gets charged to paypal and the charge on your credit card bill says paypal or what? Also how do they make money off it if it's free?

they take a few cents here and there. and since everyone from ebay uses it. the amount they earn grows

Just like using a credit card is free for customers and not free for retailers, paypal is free for online customers, but not for online sellers.
