blah blah blah

As the time of a conversation approaches infinity, the probability of someone involved in the conversation mentioning hitler and/or nazism tends to 1; whoever does so loses.

Someone becoming involved?

my roommate, a philosophy/psych major, told me that one day during a conversation of ours.

people involved meaning people taking part in the conversation. I obviously messed up in my post, and have fixed it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yeah I've heard that, it's pretty funny.

It's really prevalent on slashdot as a way of knowing when the a discussion is over or a joke is finally killed.

Conversations turn to sex a lot.

Occam's Razor.

occam's razor is stupid, it reminds me of that movie 'the saint'. where the problem of cold fusion scientists was their overly complex approach, and the dumb woman scientist presented a formula of nonsense and randomness. it was elegent, simple, and pissed me off haha.

complex methods are the only way that will work

You know that's not what Ockham's razor really means, right?

It's not that only simple methods are right. But that theories should be as simple as possible. When comparing two theories (that are on equal footing in terms of predictive power), the one that has the fewest assumptions is usually right. Which is just common sense, because it needs fewer things to be true.

Also, "The Saint" kicked ass, if only because the chick in the movie tells Val Kilmer to take off his pants, and that always makes a movie awesome.

oh ok, a make it 'simple but not any simpler' sort of deal. I can deal with that.

Still i attest to the saint being horrid. When talking about practical 'solutions' to nuclear fusion of any sort, it is not going to be a mishap of formulaic approach. 'Solutions' to these problems would present themselves in large manuals, not in a fundamental theoretical modeling of the physical process.

Fusion is possible, we know, to get it to work requires exquisite care, and to be so careful demands you take a lot of precautions, which will be a complex and long list, not a list of 4 irrelevent formulae.

i hate val kilmer, he is rather ugly.
