man no one is "normal". i mean everyone is weird or somethin in someway shape or form. normal is a scale for society 2 determine whether u r as weird as the majority.

Psycho - one day you might write your own dictionary but until then the noun for normative is normativeness and the noun for normal is normalcy.

Related to the topic at hand, normal is in the eye of the beholder. I consider myself abnormal.

he didn't make up that word, Normativity is an idea based off of the works of Foucauldian scholars, even though it's not in the dictionary, but oh well.

My apologies. When I put "Foucauld" into Google I got some French nonsense so I (incorrectly) assumed it was the guy.

oh, he is a guy though. Michel is his first name, and he's a french philosopher.

normal... i'm not normal so i wouldn't know.... normal...
i guess it's what the majority of people are, unless the majority of people are ABNORMAL!

yes. but only what you believe is normal. because if you start to look at yourself through other peoples eyes, your not really doing what you should.

Posted by PsychoSnowman on 03-01-2003 07:14 PM:

Of course there's normal. Normal is a social construct, and everyone has their idea of what normal is. Is there a normal person? sure, probably. But, that's relative to each person. It'd be foolish i htink to assume there is no normal, and the comment about society beingi abnormal...please, if we construct normalcy from society, the majority of society can't be "abnormal." Words like normal and abnormal define themselves as being polar opposites, we define abnormal as being the opposite of normal, not the other way around. Obviously the majority of society is not abnormal, regardless of if you were joking or not.

from what i can say everyone is different no one is the same .. so no one is perfect or even not perfect what ever.. but yeah i dont think there is a "normal" person or not bc people act however they liek to and do what ever they liek to even thought there are laws to abide by that so i think that there is no normal person out there
