maybe it's just me, but i found out something profound. jesus and his apostles weren't white! haha ok. in fact, peter and paul are asians (from turkey and asia minor). i wonder why most of the pictures depict these biblical people as being caucasian though...

profound? Perhaps. But it's common knowledge.

The (catholic) church was not the most welcoming of faiths and the artwork they commisioned probably reflected that characteristic. On a remotely related tangent, it's easier to draw and accentuate lines and detail on a white face as opposed to a brown/tan one.

hmm.. i had no idea peter and paul were asian.. but i'm sure they had mediterranean/tanned skin.. so not all of the pictures are that off.. and i know Jesus was jewish.. are jews considered white?

no "asia minor" merely refers to the middle eastern/persian geographical area. Ethnically they are not what we commonly refer to as "asian"
