parental control

What is your stance on parental censorship(of internet/tv/etc)?

I'm not really in favor of it, though I can sympathize.
I really think that it is more beneficial to a growing child to learn how to exercise his/her own discretion. How will they ever understand that something is bad if they don't see it for themselves?

sorry I'm not elaborating more on my topic. I'm really tired and not equipped to construct a flowing opinion/explanation.

i think it's absurd. If by that you mean governmental assistance is being implemented in it as well, like in tv how you can't swear or whatnot.

If it's just for the parents doing it to their kids. It's fine, cause it's them adn they don't have to abide by law. But the censorship of tv is just dumb in my opinion.

Nothing like ensuring your child will be improperly prepared for dealing with the real world.

i agree also because parents may say that by seeing violence and hearing curse words, you are giving your child an altered perspective on what the world is really like, but times have changed. by not being exposed to these things, what you are doing is leaving your child open to later scarring, scarring that will be much worse than what hearing vulgarity or seeing nudity on television would do to them. the later scarring would in turn be bullying or abuse from others. ya get meh jist.. no more blabberin

i think its seriously getting out of control. I mean, on some tv shows like MTV, you can't say "drugs, God, sex, shoot" and plenty of others. Seriously, does the censorship teams out there think that they are succeeding? Well theyre not. Movies are getting more censored but still messages are going to come through anyway.

i kno wut u mean, but mtv is really run by its advertisers. mtv claims to be wild and cutting edge but they check all of their shows and specials with their advertisers before airing/filming them and if its not ok, they wont advertise it and just end up showing it from 12-6 am. ex. - mtv news : dug bust where they catch drug smugglers. aired 2am sunday, lol i watched it. (it was coo tho) proof of who controls mtv? watch a show, or should i say commercial break. which is longer?
