genetic engineering

as religious pplz, do u think genetically engineering babies or pplz is rite or wrong?

... as a christian... wrong... but with today's world... theres so much thats uncertain... i mean genetic engineering to do physical changes shouldn't be allowed... (i shudder at the thought of people have gills or something), but then again it can be a good thing to get rid of certain genetic diseases... its really hard to say... as long as man doesn't cross the line into horrible mutations, i guess... it can be acceptable... but then again... were human, we're bound to stumble

thaz true...we're gonna mess up...but i dunno, i actualli kinda support genetic engineering cuz it can realli help pplz...not for cosmetic reasons tho, like blond hair or blue eyes or w/e, but to cure diseases. it's realli sad about the kind of diseases some babies can hav :sad: but then...changing them is like changing wut God made...so i dunno

hmm, i realli dont kno........while the effect may be good, doesnt necessarily mean its rite......i have to think more on this....

That's something that God said, maybe that there people who are born with genetic disorders were created in the image that God wanted, of course it's horrible and just gut wrenching to see, but is it not in God's plans?

To genetic engineering, I say that it CAN be good, but can be TERRIBLY bad, we must use the knowledge that we have wisely and remember that natural conception is a gift that God has given us. We were all created in God's image, why mess with it?

it is sooooo wrong. u giv a talent to a normal person and that person gets it for free. while another natural person comes along and was gifted BY GOD not humans wit the same skill. its complete BS, u can create a near perfect human wit this shit. but im guessin that there will be major defects.

yes...i think it's terribly wrong to give pplz traits just to get them nearer perfection or for purely cosmetic reasons or giving them extra skills, but wut about diseases? so it's not part of God's plan...how do u noe wut God's plan is?? maib part of his plan wuz for us to discover ways to help ourselves!

then again, tempering w/ this stuff mite make pplz feel like they ARE God...like they hav the ability to make humans any way they want them to be...which kinda scares me :sad: so i'm divided on this topic, i dun realli noe where i stand

now im more sure then ever... its not good... frankly because knowing people, there are those who would take advantage of this power and make people better for their own personal reasons... this is a FACT... and there is no way to keep this power from those who would exploit it... its better to keep this power from the world and have people suffer their genetic dissorder, rather then have people have incredible and dangerous power... also with this knowledge what stops people from geneticly mutating already dangerous strains of diseases and making them even more dangerous to mankind, possibly incurable... in my strong opinion this is one technological advancement that man can do without
