Utada Hikaru's American Debut, Set for early 2004

According to Daily Sports Online, Hikaru's debut album under Island Records will be released in early 2004. It states that Island Def Jam is putting a lot of money into her impending debut, going so far as to create an advertisement team specifically for Hikaru's debut (titled "HU Project," as previously reported on Hikaru-Online.Net). This is only the second time that Island Def Jam has done this for an artist, the first being for Mariah Carey. Hikaru is said to be receiving "VIP" treatment, much like the aformentioned Ms. Carey.

The article also mentions how Hikaru has not been in the spotlight since her appearance at the Matrix Reloaded World Premiere in May due to the fact that she has steadily been working on her English album."

She's always been one of my favorites, sadly i just don't see a US release to be all that popular, because most likely not promote it like it looks from that article, however i'd have to say it would pretty cool if she releases a single and rise up ;)
