-- Which one? (https://www.jusunlee.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=13876)

Which one?

I have to choose between taking either

AP Calculus BC

or

AP Calculus AB and AP Psychology

I would like to take AP Calculus BC and Psychology but my schedule can't handle it.

Here's the description:

AP calc AB is easier but only covers 2 semesters

AP Psych is easy as well so I've heard.

AP calc BC is hard as hell as I've heard, but if someone who I've done better than in math for 2 years can take it I think I could as well.

Also, if I take BC I'd have an open period as well. (Open and lunch, as opposed to only lunch.)

What would a college prefer I take?

altho i'm not an expert on what colleges prefer, i think it would look a little better if you took 2 AP classes instead of a harder one and had an open period. i mean, if you had an open period, wouldn't colleges get the implication that you like to have free time during the day when you could be studying? i dunno that's my suggestion but it also depends on the college you're applying to. good luck.

it depends.

If you can handle both AP Calc AB and Psych in addition to whatever other AP classes you have (im assuming you're taking some others) then go ahead.

BC calc is more difficult than AB by far, and requires a lot of studying. I'd go with AB calc (which is challenging, but you can still get a good grade with a normal amount of review) and psych. Colleges will be impressed with two good AP scores. But if you can't handle the range of material being covered, then just drop down to BC and focus on calc.

I'm going to stay with AB, the schedule change would be pretty tedious and there are a lot of pretentious people taking bc.
