-- mainstream or alternative. (https://www.jusunlee.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=10841)

mainstream or alternative.

as far as software goes, what do you consider yourself? for example, do you prefer windows over a linux variant, ms office over openoffice.org, aim/icq/msnm over a jabber client, and internet explorer over mozilla? if so, you would be considered mainstream, if not, alternative.

i consider myself the latter, though sometimes i feel more like im in the middle. i prefer opensource over proprietary software, because they tend to be geared more towards power users while proprietary softwares tend to be focused more on usability. and even when not opensource, i find alternative softwares to be more flexible as far as options go.

how about you?

pretty much mainstream in the fact i use windows, but when i am on my Mandrake box, of course im not mainstream.

Due to my inherent laziness all of my attempts to switch myself to opensource/"alternative" software has failed because I know "mainstream" software very well and I really just don't want to learn the quirks of something different.
I have a huge server literally 5 feet away with 4 SCSI drives that I could easily mess around on Linux with but NO I'm just too damn lazy. I was actually considering getting around to installing Debian on that along with other "alternative" methods of survival but instead I just went to sleep.
C'est la vie.
