i think it was b/c she was an ancient...
ancient in the game is a group of people...
and i think him and her were the last suriviving ancients and i think too achieve his goal he needed to be the only one...
i kinda don't remember it's been a while since i played...
but maybe it was b/c she was the only one who could truly stop him and in the end she did stop him...
