Kazaa sued it for copyright infringement

ok. go start. control panel. network connections. find your internet connection. right click. properties. click on advance tab. and make sure it is unchecked if you want to turn off the firewall.

thanks azntiger. thats one down. this is what it says on the help contents:

- Are you running a firewall? Try disabling it.
- Windows XP also has an build-in firewall. Disable it.
- Are you on a school/university/work network? Port 1214 may be blocked. See the other topics on this page for possible solutions.
- Did you install Kazaa Lite with Administrator/Power User privileges? The Kazaa connection data is written to the Windows registry during installation. This probably fails when you are on a log-in account with limited privileges.

how do i check if i have Administrator/Power User privileges?

anyways, ill try to reinstall it again and see if that works.

nevermind! i got it to work!

Posted by kryogenix on 01-05-2004 11:40 AM:

what version are you running? cause in the later versions, your participation level always stays at 1000. it also blocks riaa ip's

Posted by coolant on 01-05-2004 02:39 PM:

kryogenix, can you explain what about the riaa's ip being blocked thats important? is that a good or bad thing? i thought riaa was only about music and the way i think it works is that you wont get in trouble unless your dling music. correct me if im wrong.

Posted by kryogenix on 01-05-2004 09:56 PM:

coolant, this is from aldo vargas' website

quote:
BadIPUpdater is a tool that automatically keep updated the list of bad IP addresses banned by Kazaa Lite K++ 2.4.3. These IP addresses normally contain corrupted files or potential threats from anti-P2P organizations.

i think it's a good thing to have those ip's blocked if you want to download music without the RIAA watching you

as for the participation level, the higher it is, the less time it takes to wait on a queue. you have a higher priority than other people on the queue

Posted by coolant on 01-07-2004 05:12 AM:

can you give me the link to that aldo vargas' website?

i wanna check if mine (version 2.1.0) has that badipupdater thingy. thanx!
