short story.

a father and son were involved in a car accident. the father was killed instantly, while the child survives and is sent to the hospital. as soon as the doctor sees the child, the nurses are told, "i can't work on this child. he's my son!"

isn't that weird? hearing the word "doctor," most people assume he/she is male. same with cops and professors. i bet yu assumed the nurses are women too.

why don't yu stop trying to be a smartass? i said most. people like yu discourage others to post on a forum. i mean, why post if it's just so some smartass(like yu) can try to make the ones who post feel stupid? that alone, over time, can kill a forum.

I do not see how it's discouraging either- unless you're overtly self-conscious. So you get a few replies that do not assert the same opinion that you hold, so what? It is certainly more interesting to see members expressing varying rather than homogeneous beliefs.

Calling people smartasses without real provocation can kill discussion more effectively.

Anywaaaaays...

I was confused for a second when I read that... of course because I thought the doctor was a guy and I thought the boy's father died. Then I read on and was like AH~ I get it! ^_^

I'm sure there's an explaination as to why "most" people think that right away. Perhaps because it use to be like that where women were secretaries and men were doctors, lawyers, officers, etc.

I'm sure we all knew that already. Just... doing some friendly posting!
