Four golds in a row for South Korean team
Associated Press

SYDNEY, Australia -- After sweeping the individual medals, three South Korean women joined to easily win the team archery gold for the fourth consecutive Olympics on Thursday setting another world record.

Yun Mi-jin, Kim Soo-nyung and Kim Nam-soon first scored an Olympic record 252 in the quarterfinals against the United States trio of Janet Dykman of El Monte, Calif., Denise Parker of Salt Lake City, and Karen Scavotto, Enfield, Conn. The United States scored 240.

Then the South Koreans breezed by Germany in the semifinals, 251-38, and equaled their score in the final against Ukraine, 251-239.

The South Koreans total for 54 arrows of 502 in the semifinals and finals broke their own world record of 500 set a year ago.

Germany beat Turkey for the bronze medal.

The South Korean team was heavily favored, especially after setting a world record in team scoring in the ranking portion of the event.

Yun, a 17-year-old, took the individual gold medal, the fifth consecutive title for the South Koreans in that event.
