lemme tell you, IB is ONLY harder cuz to get the full deal you need to be a diploma candidate, cuz most colleges give a rats ass if you took SL (Standard Level classes) and I SUGGEST that you just take a whole bunch of HL Classes cuz colleges will give you credit for HL, but not SL..
IB....4 years of that stuff can make anyone go crazy...look at me

you took IB four years? They only count in the junior and senior years for the diploma. Our school doesn't even let you take some of them until those years so they don't fill up with underclassmen...so the upperclassmen have an assured spot in them.
Yeah, but you can't take more than 4 HL's if you want to get the diploma, it sucks. I'm glad i didn't take 7 HL's though, that'd be hella hard, and soooo much work. Well colleges recognize SL language courses for credit from a lot of colleges, i hear that more are recognizing SL for math now too. I don't know why they don't recognize the SL courses, they are hella hard. It's not like the SL math is easier than AP. Anyway, i think it's just a matter of time before it's all counted, cause IB still isn't that widespread in the US.
Honestly, i don't see how the IB diploma helps, no colleges i've seen have even recognized it, except like cambridge hah. It's a shiite load of work to do for something that may not even help you at all. I hope it does, but it doesn't seem like it yet...and i have ill hopes, from people who've done it and say it doesn't hah.
But yeah, I agree with evax in that IB is hard mostly because of the insane amount of work there is to do for it. I'll outline some aspects of it...first off, almost every single class has an oral component (like 10 minute presentation), and like 4 essays. Yeah, like EVERY class, except math and physics almost, it's terrible. Do they think we have so much time? haha it's as if they think we only have that class for our school life. Anyway, so there's that, the tests from what i hear are incredibly broad, especially IB math HL exam, so you have to know about like everything. And to get the diploma you have to pass all your exams, write another essay...but this time it's 4000 words (20 some pages), do 150 hours of categorically prescribed community service, and just make sure that you take at least 3 HL's, and 3 SL's, or 4 HL's, and 2 SL's (i'm doing the latter), and throughout all that make sure you maintain an average of a 4 i believe (scale: 0-7). BTW, HL's are "higher level" courses that are 2 years, and SL's are standard level which are one year courses. Anyway, i'd say it's as hard as AP (I still think they are harder, but i'm sure the math is harder personally), but with a crazy amount of work attached onto it. I think it's hard haha, messing up my GPA...I hate it...ahhh. Going crazy like EvaX did....haha ...i'm just going to laugh it off now.

btw have fun writing your Externally graded essays on your choice topic...what were they called....oh yeah Extended Essays....hehe...they suck and the TOK Essay is bullcrap too...
I had 4 years cuz our school has a "Pre"-IB program too which is suppose to support the same rigor as an IB course...I found that the Pre-IB courses were harder than the regular IB courses...

it's not the IB that got me into college, I got accepted to all the colleges that I applied to, the only thing it really helps you with is...
1. credits
2. being "ready" for college studies
3. bragging right :-D I know this one is a cheesy one, but hey YOU WENT THROUGH HELL, so might as well brag how you defeated IB right?

trust me, we have to go through extra curricular hell too. I'm in about 4 (and debate takes a lot of time), moving on 5. We don't get enough recognition for the hell we have to go through. I wish we raised the standard ...too bad it's seen on the same level as AP right now, in the future they'll separate i'm sure, it has in europe...it's just starting in the US so...slowly moving along i guess...
