-- why do asains hate A&F so much? (https://www.jusunlee.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8851)

I have to agree with tony about what he said in his first post... Whenever I walk into an Abercrombie and Fitch store, the employees look at me like, "What are you doing in here?" and they don't ask me if they can help me find something or anything... You know how they always have their employees standing by the entrances? They say hi to all the other people buh when we walk in, they don't even say hi... nor do they say bye! So I don't like going in there much because their service is whack...

and it's true... most of their clothes do look ugly!

they actually released the shirts with the intention to attract an asian market i read in some article, they said in some quote i don't remember exactly about how they thought asians would like it.

I would buy a t-shirt if they made a pakistani version of that or something. People got really offended though about those ones though. I don't know, i just don't know why people act like they are all evil and meant it, and how it's so obvious people would get offended. Cause it's not.

very conclusive point...*thumps up*
i dont know if people who protest dont have enething to do? and protest cause its just a thing to...like i said earlir i dont want to downgrade the asains who are reallie in the laundry business who are an intricate part of our society to wear that type of hat...but think about it peoplez why would aBercrombie purposly try to repell the asain consumers?...which there is another sterotype for that asain people tend to be smarter(which is a fact accroding to the SAT scores)would tend to have more money? And even if they did protest for those shirts they still didnt have to take those shirts off the selection. Even if it did go to court because they're are alot of offensive types of clothing out there and the ones displayed were very trifling and in my opinion humorous(last thing i would of thought was that there would be protesting). And the company did take it off thier selection because maybe they cared about what the asain american community thought?...or at least protesters(which drove away business and made business bad(not good for sure)) anyways...i would of bought the shirt...just for laughs with your friends or who ever ...we can be pretty uptight sometimes...and about my heritage. I have one of those rice hats that my grandmother gave me. And i bet most of you have one too...and do you not use the stereotypical word twinkie or whitewashed?...I am as you can say whitewashed...but i still practice my heritage at home...so when we're using twinkie or whitewashed arent we being a little stereotypical ourselves?

thanks for all the opinions
post more~!

fourth of all, they thought the asian community would like the shirts and weren't purposely racist. It's not like THEY are racist, they may have made racist shirts, but that doesn't make them racist. I mean urban outfitters sells a t-shirt that says "honky" on it, does that make them racist? No, it makes the t-shirt racist at most. And, not surprisingly the white community hasn't backlashed against this shirt. Not saying it's bad to protest it, cause i'm not. Just saying, there are other factors.

even if the shirts were meant to be a joke, the whole idea was pretty stupid. Design sucked as well

Actually, depending on where you are, A&F's popularity varies. I'm from the East Coast, and as far as I know, Abercrombie is pretty popular among the Asian set.

As for the racist t-shirt designs, yes, that sparked nationwide outrage among man Asian-Americans, but I believe people still buy and wear Abercrombie today. It was an incredibly ignorant and stupid corporate move, to market those t-shirts, but hey, if you like A&F, you'll keep going back for more.

ive never bought anything from abercrombie. maybe because east coast has more white people than there are on the west coast. the asians here tend to stick together in certain areas like oc, arcadia, pasadena, san francisco, etc. theyre not all scattered. i know people who DO like abercrombie, but those asians tend to live different lives than the ones who arent. lifestyles are different, which would lead to differences in style and preference.

Abercrombie has racist hiring policies. I know this for a fact. I know someone who works there.
