The real problem is in the hearts and minds of men. It is easier to denature plutonium than to denature the evil spirit of man.

Albert Einstein

When evil men plot, good men must plan. When evil men burn and bomb, good men must build and bind. When evil men shout ugly words of hatred, good men must commit themselves to the glories of love.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Why do they always teach us that it's easy and evil to do what we want and that we need discipline to restrain ourselves? It's the hardest thing in the world--to do what we want. And it takes the greatest kind of courage. I mean, what we really want.

Ayn Rand

I am convinced that the teaching of the church is in theory a crafty and evil lie, and in practice a concoction of gross superstition and witchcraft

Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

It is true that every day has its own evil, and its good too. But how difficult must life be, especially farther on when the evil of each day increases as far as worldly things go, if it is not strengthened and comforted by faith. And in Christ all worldly things may become better, and, as it were, sanctified. Theo, woe is me if I do not preach the Gospel; if I did not aim at that and possess faith and hope in Christ, it would be bad for me indeed, but no I have some courage.

Vincent Van Gogh

So far as we are human, what we do must be either evil or good: so far as we do evil or good, we are human: and it is better, in a paradoxical way, to do evil than to do nothing: at least we exist.

T.S. Eliot

Evil is like water, it abounds, is cheap, soon fouls, but runs itself clear of taint.

Samuel Butler

The question why there is evil in existence is the same as why there is imperfection... But this is the real question we ought to ask: Is this imperfection the final truth, is evil absolute and ultimate?

Rabindranath Tagore

This is the very worst wickedness, that we refuse to acknowledge the passionate evil that is in us. This makes us secret and rotten.

D.H. Lawrence

There has to be evil so that good can prove its purity above it.

Buddha

im my opinion we're born evil and we learn to change later on in life.

Oh but what if people are what they think they are?

Posted by Nojeel on 07-02-2002 05:10 AM:

as long as humans exist in society......the greed in men.... people are very selfish... i honestly think everyone has an evil side..so basically you can't really say anyone is pure and good...

There is no such thing as "good and evil" in reality. There is only existance. Only emotion. "Good and Evil", is more of a theology, it is meant to explain actions and occurances. When one looks deeper into another person's thought process, they will discover there is no real "good" or "evil". They will only find human thoughts, emotions, and the like.

Greed, violence, and jealousy, among many other things, are all part of human nature.
